So I have a little “farm life” update…
We’ve gone from cats,
to fencing in for some cows (coming soon),
…we’re adding a couple of young, miniature donkeys to the mix.
Why do I want donkeys?
I’m honestly not 100% sure. 😊
But there is something within me that wants to get to know them,
to work with them,
to bond with them,
to learn from them.
Did you know that donkeys aren’t as much “stubborn” as they are simply trying to decide if they can trust?
They are simply trying to learn if they are “safe” in the situations they face.
I can so relate to that.
It’s a life-long lesson for me.
You know, I didn’t grow up having farm animals.
I was actually afraid of most animals growing up.
Petting zoos weren’t for me because I would rather just observe them from a distance.
But I’m learning to love working with animals.
I’ve learned so much from working with our 2 rescue blue heelers.
And they’re so worth the patience and the time it has taken for them to grow in trust.
Is this a stretch for me?
I’ve never really been around larger animals.
Thankfully, Jason has. That was his childhood.
But I’m excited for the opportunity to learn.
I’m excited for the opportunity to grow.
I’m excited to see what this turns into.
We went and visited a 3 month old jack yesterday.
It was the first time I’ve ever handled a donkey.
I’ve got a lot to learn, but I have this feeling that it’s going to be more than worth it. 💖
